01/29/2021: Dr. Yu Li was invited to give a talk entitled “Nutrient Sensing and Metabolic Regulation in the Liver” at School of Basic Medical Sciences of Zhejiang University, Hangzhou
02/20/2021: Congratulation to Dr. Aoyuan Cui and Dong Ding for the publication of the review article entitled “Regulation of hepatic metabolism and cell growth by the ATF/CREB family of transcription factor” in Diabetes (2021, 70(3):653-664). This review discussed the roles of the ATF/CREB family in maintain liver homeostasis by responding extracellular nutrition signals and growth factors, mediating glucose and lipid metabolism and the control of cell proliferation. Moreover, this article provides prospects on the potential clinical values and future research directions of the family.
04/06/2021: Congratulation to Dr. Aoyuan Cui for receiving “Young Investigator Award” from American Diabetes Association (ADA). The Young Investigator awards are given to a limited number of researchers whose excellent work have been accepted for presentation at the annual ADA’s scientific meeting.

05/10/2021:Congratulation to Dr. Zehua Zhao and Zixuan Wang for the publication of the research article entitled “Sodium butyrate supplementation inhibits hepatic steatosis by stimulating liver kinase B1 and insulin-induced gene” in Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2021, 12(3):857-871). This study reported the gut microbial metabolite sodium butyrate (NaB) serves as a negative regulator of hepatic lipogenesis in NAFLD and that NaB attenuates hepatic steatosis and improves lipid profile and liver function largely through the activation of LKB1-AMPK-Insig signaling pathway. This study has been accomplished through a collaboration with Dr. Jiangao Fan at Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

06/28/2021: Dr. Aoyuan Cui gave two oral presentations entitled “Hydroxylation regulation of hepatic gluconeogenesis via prolyl-hydroxylase 3 in mice” and “Pharmacological inhibition of crebzf improves insulin resistance by altering activation of macrophage in adipose tissue of diet-induced obese mice” at the virtual 81st Scientific Sessions of American Diabetes Association.
07/02/2021: Li Lab attended American Diabetes Association 81st Scientific Sessions (ADA)'s Virtual 81st Scientific Sessions, June 25-29, 2021.
07/26/2021: Li Lab organized a Chinese Baijiu tasting party, in which a number of different flavor-types of Chinese Baijiu were kindly provided by Yang Jiang in the liquor taste party including 浓香型, 酱香型, 米香型, 清香型 (flavor types) Chinese Baijiu. It is a fun way to learn about the different Chinese Baijiu types, and is a great way to bring all lab colleagues together.
07/29/2021: Li Lab attended the 4th Annual Conference of Chinese Society for Metabolic Biology organized by Biophysical Society of China, Guilin.
07/29/2021: Dr. Yu Li was invited to give a talk entitled “A novel mechanism by which gut microbial metabolite sodium butyrate regulates lipogenesis and NAFLD” at the 4th Research Conference of Metabolic Biology Society affiliated to Biophysical Society of China, Guilin.
08/19/2021: Congratulations to Dr. Xiaozhen Dai，a visiting scholar (中组部西部之光) from Chengdu Medical College, for receiving the NSFC grant (General Program, 面上项目), and Dr. Aoyuan Cui for receiving the NSFC grant (Youth Program, 青年项目).
09/06/2021: lilab academic seminar was held in Shanghai, lilab members summarized and present their research work. The academic questions were raised and discussed. Everyone made great progress.
