Liu Zhan was born in Shandong Province. She received her bachelor's degree in Food Science and Engineering from Ludong University, Yantai, Shandong. In 2023, she entered Li Lab of the Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences to pursue the master's degree.

Her research interests are food nutrition and human health, including R&D of phosphatidylserine and lysophospholipids using Antarctic krill, Euphausia superba, one of the most abundant animal species on the planet. She hopes to become an excellent dietitian in food after graduation.

She is a sociable, easy-going person who loves life so much. In her daily life, she enjoys traveling, taking pictures and cooking. She is a gifted climber who has conquered the Mount Taishan twice. She also likes listening to music, especially her favorite singer JJ Lin’s songs.
